La Cantatrice - a theatrical concert at the heart of Aloïse's drawings

03.04.2014
A creation by Brigitte Ravenel and Céline Muzelle reflecting the oeuvre of the creator Aloïse.
The Abbey of Bonmont (Chéserex, Switzerland) provides a unique and most uncluttered venue for a group of highly talented musicians to treat us to a novel trip through Aloïse Corbaz's world.
During the concert, forget any boundaries between the arts and—thanks to voice, sound and image—enjoy a trip through the very heart of this Art Brut creator's book of drawings.

La Pinturitas of Arguedas - a fragile and ever-evolving oeuvre

18.02.2014
The photographer Hervé Couton focuses on popular creations as well as Art Brut. For the most part, this Spanish creator paints on the walls of a condemned restaurant. Meanwhile, Hervé Couton returns every year to photograph her oeuvre.

Disdained and mocked by part of the local population, Maria-Angeles, aka "the outsider," says she began painting in 2000 on the walls of that building, in order to depict those who made fun of her. She explains that for some time she took to sleeping in the cemetery, fearing less fearful of the dead than of the living!
Subjected to a life of many hardships, "La Pinturitas" most probably took up painting to keep her head above water.

On m'appelait Judith Scott [They called me Judith Scott] - a show staged by Charlotte Dumartheray

21.11.2013
Born in Cincinnatti OH in 1943, the deaf and mute creator Judith Scott is afflicted by Down's syndrome. In considering what Judith might have to say, the plot allows her train of thought to get as tangled up as her sculpture pieces, as knotted, commingled and overlapping. How can sense be made of her wording? How can it be embodied? The answer could be that all of us, each in our own way, should come to realize how very much we too are discomforted by ourselves.

Script: Pascal Rebetez
Played and directed by: Charlotte Dumartheray
November 21 and 22,  at the Salle du Cupdown, 1 rue des Savoises, Geneva
Admission is free but advance booking is recommended: resa.jscott@gmail.com

André Robillard Exhibition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Orléans (France)

24.10.2013
André Robillard's vital need to shape, create and handle materials and colors incites him to seek out objects in scrapheaps: ink cartridges, red sticky tape, light bulbs, nails ... the never-ending waste products of our consumer society. These he goes on to conglomerate with great cunning and skill, transforming them into magic and emotionally highly-charged objects.
The Orléans museum features a joyously dissonant display of some one hundred of Robillard's colorful and outsize works: weapons, space shuttles, cutouts and drawings.

André Robillard at the Collection de l'Art Brut for the Museum Night

21.09.2013
Jointly paying tribute to André Robillard (1931) during the 2013 edition of the Museum Night will be a presentation of his works, several film screenings and a musical event.
In 1964, André Robillard began assembling waste materials found in trash cans, using them to produce a first rifle. Jean Dubuffet discovered the piece thanks to the psychiatrist Paul Renard, and acquired it for his collection of Art Brut works. This became the start of a highly creative adventure: for the last fifty years, André Robillard has been producing firearms, planes, sputniks and animals. He has also taken up drawing, and plays several instruments: the accordion, the harmonica, and the "cartridge pail" which is an instrument of his own invention.
This event represents an exceptional opportunity to meet André Robillard, a creator whose works belong to the museum's historic collection.
