Biography

Charles Paris (1901–?) was born in Paris, France. He first worked as a sales representative, then as a driver of a horse-drawn coach.

From 1958 onwards, while out in the countryside, he would gather lengths of olive wood and stones of irregular shapes on which he then painted. He mainly drew faces, basing them on the natural relief of the support material, as if they  leapt out of their own accord and imposed themselves on him.

Charles Paris also composed music and wrote poems.
