The Swiss Literary Archives are devoting an online study day to Michel Thévoz

"The Unconventional Eye" - Michel Thévoz, Thursday 15 April 2021

Following in the wake of Jean Dubuffet, Michel Thévoz has become a name to be reckoned with, both theoretically and practically, on the Art Brut scene. It should be remembered that he was the man behind the creation of the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne, which he directed between 1976 and 2001. His personal papers have recently entered the collection of the Swiss Literary Archives, housed in the Swiss National Library in Bern). This study day will provide an opportunity to rediscover, through the contributions of several specialists, the impact of his "unconventional" thinking: on Art Brut, of course, but also on writing, psychoanalysis, and "Swiss art". The event is being organised by the Swiss Literary Archives, with the support of the Institute of French Language and Literature of the University of Bern.
