OUTSIDER, inspired by Henry Darger - online event

To celebrate the anniversaries of Henry Darger's birth and death and the hanging of his work in the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris (MAM), the MAM and Philippe Cohen Solal are offering an online event dedicated to the legendary and mysterious artist on the 12th of April at 7pm (Paris time) 12-noon (Chicago time) - on https://outsideronline.co

Henry Darger’s words and imagination are put to music by Philippe Cohen Solal (Gotan Project) and Mike Lindsay (Tunng) in a luxuriant album, which carries baroque pop colours through rich, fantastic arrangements and amazing details. The bright hues and collages of OUTSIDER marry the reliefs of memorable melodies. Philippe Cohen Solal will present part of the musical and transmedia project “OUTSIDER, inspired by Henry Darger”, live from the MAM and in partnership with the Intuit Center of Chicago where the artist’s room has been recreated.

For the first time, a website will allow viewers to immerse themselves in the fantastic universe of this major 20th century artist with virtual access to the museums owning Darger’s works in their collection. A series of podcasts retracing Henry Darger’s incredible story - through the testimonies of personalities that knew, studied or exhibited him - will be available in English soon.
